im working on an mmo in unity3d any chance you could give me a few tips?

@StephEEE10 Not to step on toes but I am a big fan of Unity. The free version is extremely powerful and it only takes this example to show you what it can do. Blender models work very well with Unity and it is free so it’s the best of both worlds. Also, unless I am mistaken, DarkBasic has no Graphical Interface for the build itself. It is all code so you have to run it each time you want to see if it works. With Unity, there is no need to do that. You can see what you are building as it happens.

By ftwdoitagain on Jun 10, 2010
Hi good job on the game.
I have a tutorial request
Can you make a tutorial on how to get a Unity game multiplayer online please?

@kmd2k10csk most games (definetly all commercial games) are compiled or built at the end of their development meaning that all the files are (usualy) turned (packed) into one file or many. All of the files are machine language. You can’t load any of them into a game engine. Once the have been compiled they can only be played … not modified

NICE GAME, when will it come out?
By Newbie481 on Jun 25, 2010
@Newbie481 Tentative release is scheduled for Q4 2011, but we plan to run a public beta from Q2 2011 onwards. And trust us, it will look much, much nicer than it does in this demo.

Models look a LOT like Dreamlords
nice work so far though.
By Rekedens on Jul 8, 2010
@Rekedens Thanks! The model in the prototype was just a placeholder through – the only reason for the texture is so the female placeholder model didn’t appear naked.
You can see some of the concept art for the actual game on our site.
By SixTimesNothing on Jul 8, 2010
@SixTimesNothing Good idea
And yeah I know it’s a placeholder (a good one at that!)
By Rekedens on Jul 8, 2010
Let me ask you 1st..this game will be f2p(free to play) or p2p(pay to play)? And 2nd.. How can you make a game multiplayer in unity? :S
By kostas195 on Jul 9, 2010

hwy i need your help….. im making an mmo also “Omuni Online” and we are debating something and having issues…. i was hoping you could help by answering this. how did u get it online? i know its database and network but what did u do? make the game first then make it mmo? and wen u made it mmo did u have to redo all the scripts? and final question how did u use the data base and etc to work?
By rjfire on Jul 30, 2010
how much would u most likely sell this game for would it be like world of warcraft 15$ per month or would it be like runescape free but 5$ with benefits?
By StarkGamingTeam on Aug 20, 2010
@kostas195 theres tons of tutorials out there but first take a look at unity’s multiplayer networking guides
(this one isnt a tutorial but is helpful)
unity3d(.)com/support/resources/unite-presentations/developing-multiplayer-games
(this one is hard to follow but i succeded with it)

Looks cool, awesome work!
Thank you for sharing

@rjfire For a persistent world, you can use either a database, or simply files. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. You should find out how many players you want to support on 1 server first.
For an mmo, the usual thing to do, is to make it client-server. The client and the server both calculate what they need, and then the client passes messages to the server whenever the user does something interesting. The server periodically send updates back to all the clients.

Hey, great looking rpg, can you help me with something?
im doing the same thing with the damaging system, how does the script know how much damage you have lost and print it over a 3d text…?
By amit1532 on Aug 27, 2010
Impressive, really looking foward to it..Btw, one question, what program do you use to get the models done?
